Spartans Take 15th in Mountain Pacific Invitational After Win Against Air Force

Los Angeles, Calif.——#20 San Jose State University finished off the weekend with a 10-8 win against Air Force taking 15th place in the Mountain Pacific Invitational.

    Niels Hofmeijer led the Spartans scoring five goals with Finn Pardon, Neil Arnett, Adam Bado and Marc Weber scoring the rest of the five Spartan goals. The last Spartan to score five goals in a match was Jacob Mercep in 2017 against Pacific.

    The Spartans took the lead in the first quarter with Neil Arnett scoring the tying goal and Hofmeijer's first two goals putting #20 San Jose State ahead, 3-1. The Spartans held on to their lead the rest of the way.

    "It was a great weekend to improve some areas of our game," says head coach Bruce Watson. "The final win over Air Force showed our defensive improvement." 

    Spartan goalkeeper Yahav Fire was credited with 11 saves. 

    The Spartans will return to action October 5, 1:00 p.m. for their first home game of the season against California at the new SRAC! Students with a valid Tower ID card are admitted free!
