Spartans Opened 2019 Season At Pacific Saturday

Stockton, Calif.—Seven Spartans scored for the San José State men's water polo team Saturday as SJSU opened the 2019 season with a 16-11 loss at Pacific.

Adam Bado and Marc Weber scored three goals each. Ary Kamen, Ashley Castle, Neil Arnett, Niels Hofmeijer and Finn Pardon also found the back of the net during the match.
 
Pacific jumped out to an early 7-3 lead in the first quarter and led 12-7 at halftime. The teams scored four goals each in the second half.
 
Spartan goalkeeper Yahav Fire was credited with 10  saves. 
 
"The guys played hard but our inexperience led to a couple early breakdowns on defense and put us behind. It was a great weekend for finding out what we need to work on, said Spartan head coach Bruce Watson.
 
The Spartans return to action on September 13 and 14 with matches at the Stanford Invite against Stanford and UCLA.
