Spartans Tied For Fourth At Nick Watney Invitational

Fresno, Calif.----- Sophomore Parker Sisk turned in his best 36-hole day of golf for San Jose State University leading the Spartans to a fourth-place tie heading into the final round of the Nick Watney Invitational.
 
            Sisk signed for a pair of two-under par 69's on the par 71, 6,729-yard Fort Washington Country Club course. Now with three consecutive under par rounds on his belt, Sisk also can claim his first sub-70 scores at the major college level.  His 36 holes included nine birdies.
 
            Teammate Bryce Wortman matched Sisk with another 138 total for 36 holes. The junior from Vancouver, Wash., had the team's low score of the day with a three-under 68 in the morning round. Both Wortman and Sisk are tied for eighth in the chase for medalist honors in the 92-player field.
 
            Sisk and Wortman led San Jose State to a 560 team total. The Spartans trail co-leaders Long Beach State and Brigham Young, which had totals of 554 each. Host Fresno State is third at 555. CSU Northridge and the University of San Diego are tied with San Jose State at 560.
 
            Fresh off a tie for 25th place at the Asia Pacific Amateur Championship, senior Sean Yu had rounds of 71 and 70 for a one-under 141.  San Jose State also counted Nate Jetter's second-round 71 and Caeb Shetler's first-round 72 in the team scoring format of the best four scores among five players.
 
            Long Beach State's Hunter Epson is the tournament leader at 10-under par 132. Sisk and Wortman are tied for eighth with two other golfers.
 
            San Jose State freshman Carl Corpus, playing as an individual entry for the second consecutive tournament is tied for fifth at 136.  Corpus had a 68 in each of his first two rounds.
 
            The 54-hole tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday, October 1.
