Spartans Tied For Ninth At Stanford Intercollegiate

Stanford, Calif.—Natasha Andrea Oon shot her fifth under-par round of the season, and the San José State women's golf team finished the day tied for ninth at the Stanford Inctercollegiate hosted by Condoleeza Rice Friday afternoon.
 
Oon shot a one-under 70 on the par 71 Stanford Golf Course and is tied for ninth place. After starting the day two-over par through three holes, Oon shot two-under par over her next six holes to get back to even-par through nine with birdies on #5 and #9. She shot one-under par for the final nine holes, making a birdie on #12 and eight pars.
 
Ysabel Tran shot a two-over 73 and is tied for 32nd place, making three birdies and 11 pars during her round. Kajsa Arwefjäll shot a three-over 74 and is tied for 45th as she had two birdies and 11 pars. Antonia Malate shot a five-over 76 and is tied for 65th and made two birdies during her round.
 
Freshman Jadan Gonzalez recorded her first collegiate eagle on Friday as she made it on the par-5, 500-yard 16th hole. She is one of six players to record an eagle in the first round and the only player to do it on #16. Gonzalez finished the day at six-over 77 and is tied for 74th.
 
The Spartans are tied for ninth after recording a nine-over 293 for the round. The team is tied with Northwestern and Pepperdine. Arizona State, playing partners of San José State, is first at six-under 278, followed by host Stanford at four-under 280.
