Stanford, Calif.----- The San Jose State University doubles pair of sophomore Savannah Sendar and freshman Rosalina Youseva advanced to the championship bracket round of 16 with an 8-5 win over #5-seed Elvena Gevargiz and Maddie Pothoff of Santa Clara University at the ITA Northwest Regional women's tennis championships.
"Savannah and Rosie played smart doubles today," said San Jose State women's tennis head coach Chad Skorupka. "They served well and played the big points great."
Skorupka cited a key Youseva serve with the score tied at 5-5 that led to taking the lead and winning the match.
The Spartan duo was the only entry in the second of three days at the Taube Tennis Center on the Stanford University campus.
Sendar and Youseva will face University of Washington's Sedona Gallagher and Katarina Kopcelic on October 20 at 10:00 a.m.
