For the second time this season, San José State sophomore libero Sarah Smevog has been named the Mountain West Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, this time for matches played October 14-19.
Last week, Smevog averaged 5.43 digs, 0.29 service aces and 1.14 assists per sets as the Spartans went 1-1. She recorded a team-best 21 digs in a three-set loss to UNLV, but followed that up by leading the Spartans with 17 digs in a 3-1 win over New Mexico this past Saturday. She added two aces and five assists in the victory.
For the season, Smevog is averaging 4.4 digs and 0.26 aces per set.
The Spartans play at #14 Colorado State this Thursday night followed by a match at Wyoming Saturday night.
