Men's Golf on Top After Two Rounds in Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif. - The San José State men's golf team remains in first place after the second round of the Visit Stockton Pacific Invite on Tuesday at The Reserve at Spanos Park. 

The Spartans shot a 7-under 281 a day after posting a 6-under 282. SJSU owns a four-stroke lead over top-10 ranked BYU in second place. 

Individually, senior Sean Yu is also still in first place.Yu posted a 3-under 69 on Tuesday after tallying an 8-under 64 on Monday. At 11-under par for the tournament, he is three strokes better than a pair of players in second place. Yu had a pair of bogeys and five birdies in his second round. The senior will go for his first tournament win of the season on Wednesday. 

The Spartans have two more players in the top-25 of the leaderboard. 

Matt Heitel is tied for 18th after tallying a 2-under 70. After shooting a 1-over 73 on Monday, Heitel climbed seven spots on Tuesday. Caleb Shetler is tied for 23rd after posting a 3-over 75 in his second round. He was in third after he shot a 3-under 69 on Monday. 

Freshman Carl Corpus bounced back from a tough round on Monday to post a 2-under 70 on Tuesday, fueled by three straight birdies in the back nine. He currently is tied for 38th at 2-over for the tournament heading into Wednesday's final round. After shooting a 9-over 81 on Monday, Bryce Wortman was even par in his second round.
