Medinah, Ill.—Natasha Andrea Oon finished in the top-10 for the second time this season and 11th time in her Spartan career as she tied for eighth place at the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah. San José State finished in 12th place at 890.
Oon shot her third consecutive under-par round of the tournament -a one-under 71 to finish at four-under 212. Starting her round on #10, she was two-under through her first nine holes, making seven pars and birdies on #16 and 317. The only blemish on her entire card came on the par-4 #3 that she bogeyed. Otherwise, she made par on the other eight holes to finish at one-under for the day.
Antonia Malate rebounded from her second round to shoot a one-over 73 on Tuesday and finish tied for 43rd at six-over 222. She started her day on hole 11 and was one-under par through seven holes, making birdies in #17 and #18. Malate made only one bogey on holes 1-9, the par-4 #5, and eight pars. She finished the day with two birdies, three bogeys and 13 pars.
Ysabel Tran and Kajsa Arwefjäll tied for 64th at 12-over 228. Arwefjäll shot her best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a three-over 75. Her only birdie of the day came on the par-4 13th as she had 13 pars for her rounds. Tran shot a six-over 78, and started her day making six consecutive pars.
Jadan Gonzalez rounded out the Spartan lineup by shooting a 78 and was 84th at 241, making two birdies in the final round.
The Spartans return to the Bay Area this weekend for the Stanford Intercollegiate, October 11-13, at the Stanford Golf Course.
