Women's Basketball Inks Two To Latest Class

San José, Calif. – San José State head women's basketball coach Jamie Craighead has announced the signing of Alani Fluker and Sophia Jones to National Letters of Intent. The pair will compete for the Spartans beginning in the 2020-21 season.

Fluker, a power forward out of San Antonio, will bring immediate size and athleticism to SJSU next fall. She is rounding out her high school career at Brennan HS in the Lone Star State.

"Alani is a dynamic athlete that will bring physicality on both ends of the floor," says Craighead. "She has a very high upside and adds depth to our roster. Alani fit right in with everyone on her official visit and will be a great addition to the team on and off the court. She is truly a scholar-athlete and we can't wait to have her here next season."

Jones will come to San José State by way of Weston, Florida. Starring at Cypress Bay HS, the point guard has the ability to play anywhere in the backcourt and will be a perfect match for Craighead's fast-paced offense.

"Sophia is a smart, skilled point guard who is going to be a great fit for our uptempo system," Craighead says. "She will be able to learn from Ayzhiana Basallo and Danae Marquez when she gets here which is a valuable asset for her growth. Sophia is also a great student and will make a positive impact immediately on this program. We're so excited for her to be part of the family."

Craighead is in her seventh season at the helm in San José. Her players have earned nine conference awards for their play on the court in addition to 32 Academic All-Mountain West and 13 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete honors.
