Lousi With 15 Kills In 3-0 Loss at UNLV

Las Vegas, Nev.—Latahevai Lousi led the Spartan hitting attack with 15 kills, but San José State was swept at UNLV 3-0 Saturday evening in a Mountain West match.
 
Lousi hit .500 for the match as she recorded her 15 kills on 26 attempts and only two errors. She also had three blocks, one solo and two assists.
 
Thaliana Grajeda also hit .500 for the match with seven kills on 12 attempts and one error.  She recorded three block assists and two digs.
 
Sarah Smevog recorded a team-high 18 digs in the three sets. Mamie Garard had 23 assists and six digs, while Kaitlynn Zdroik added 12 assists.
 
The two teams battled in the first set before UNLV won 26-24. The Spartans trailed 24-22, but back-to-back kills by Lousi tied the set at 24-24, before the Rebels scored the next two points to win.
 
The second set was similar to the first as San José State had an early led in the set before UNLV took control of the set to win 25-16. UNLV controlled the third set from the first serve, winning 25-18.
 
San José State returns home for the final two matches of the 2019 next week. The team hosts #12 Colorado State Thursday evening at 6 p.m., and Wyoming Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
