Three Spartans Named All-Golden Coast Conference

Aliso Viejo, Calif.----- San Jose State University goalkeeper Yahav Fire, 2-meter specialist Finn Pardon and driver Marc Weber were named to the 2019 All-Golden Coast Conference men's water polo team.

In a vote by the conference's six coaches, Fire was named second-team All-Golden Coast Conference for the second consecutive year and Pardon and Weber were two of the eight honorable mention choices.

"It's a great honor for Yahav. I believe he is one of the best goalies in the nation," said San Jose State men's water polo head coach Bruce Watson. "Finn and Marc are both deserving for their hard work and importance to our team team's success this season."

Fire, a sophomore from Israel, led the conference with 253 saves in the regular season, 60 more than Long Beach State's Marwan Darwish who had 193. He was one of four goalkeepers to save more than 50 percent of the shots he faced with his .509 save percentage.

Pardon, a junior from Manhattan Beach, Calif., led the Spartans in scoring with 47 goals and in shooting percentage converting .495 of his shot attempts. He ranks sixth in the Golden Coast Conference in goal scoring.

Weber, a senior from Germany, was second on the team in scoring with 32 goals.

San Jose State (7-18) returns to action Friday, November 22, at 1:00 p.m., taking on Long Beach State in the first-round of the Golden Coast Conference Tournament hosted by Pepperdine University.  A win would guarantee matches Saturday and Sunday.  A loss would place the Spartans in Saturday's fifth-place match at 9:30 a.m.

All Golden Coast Conference tournament matches will be streamed live.
