SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose State men's basketball made a big jump in the NCAA men's hoops RealTime RPI and are currently No. 54 in the rankings as of Friday. The Spartans are the second-best team in the Mountain West, only behind undefeated San Diego State.
On top of the RPI, SJSU (3-2) is also top-30 in strength of schedule, checking in at No. 29. Boise State (27th) is the lone team better in the 11-team league.
The Spartans started off the season with a big upset as they knocked off Hofstra in Hempstead, New York, in the opener. The Pride opened the season with a 123 KenPom rating. Last night, they gave the Spartans a big boost by taking down UCLA, 88-78, inside Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.
SJSU will look to keep the momentum flowing on Saturday as they host Portland State inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. PT.
