SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose State baseball added a few more key pieces to the puzzle this past week with the addition of six signees as part of the 2020 signing class. The class consists of mostly youthful high school talent and one player from the junior college ranks. Pitchers Kyle Bratset, Carter Duncan and Grant Martine, and position players Theo Hardy, Charles McAdoo and Seth Nelson have all signed their letters of intent and will join the program next season.
RHP Kyle Bratset, Washington HS, Fremont, Calif.
Bratset has played three seasons of varsity ball at Washington High where he has gone 9-1 on the bump with a career 2.33 ERA. The right-hander had a banner season as a junior with a flawless 5-0 record on the mound and a 0.97 ERA in 17 appearances. He also picked up three saves and tossed two complete games. Bratset was a 2019 All-Bay Area New Group Team honorable mention as well as a San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro honorable mention.
RHP Carter Duncan, Ukiah HS, Redwood Valley, Calif.
Duncan has a career ERA of 2.31 after two seasons of work at Ukiah High in 20 career appearances and over 75 innings. The Redwood Valley native was 5-2 as a junior with a 2.92 ERA in 11 appearances, including four starts. As a sophomore, he tallied a 1.76 ERA in over 39 innings of work. Duncan also plays in the outfield and batted .298 last season with 17 hits, 11 runs scored, 16 RBI and four doubles. He was named a 2019 Empire All-League first team selection as an outfielder.
INF Theo Hardy, Berkeley HS, Berkeley, Calif.
A switch-hitter that excels across the infield, Hardy primarily plays at shortstop where he shined in 2019 at Berkeley High. In 20 games, the junior batted .309 with 17 hits, 15 runs scored and six RBI.
RHP Grant Martine, Woodbridge HS, Irvine, Calif.
A do-it-all player that can both pitch and sling the bat, Martine was a first team All-Pacific Coast League selection as a junior at Woodbridge High. The right-hander batted .417 last season with 13 RBI, 14 runs scored and seven multi-base hits.
INF Charles McAdoo, De La Salle HS, Antioch, Calif.
A multi-sport athlete that shines on both the diamond and the gridiron, McAdoo is an infield prospect that can play at multiple positions. As a junior at De La Salle High, he batted .333, securing 26 hits and 26 RBI while scoring 19 runs and lacing five doubles. He was named a first team member of both the All-East Bay Athletic League and the All-Bay Area News Group Team.
1B/OF Seth Nelson, Golden West Community College, Fullerton, Calif.
A rising sophomore, Nelson was a force to be reckoned with at the plate in his first season at Golden West CC. In 41 games he secured 47 hits, including 15 doubles, three triples and three homers, scored 31 runs and tallied 31 RBI. The former Fullerton High standout had 12 multi-hit games, including a career-best night against Fullerton where he was 4-for-6 with three RBI, two runs scored and laced a double.
