SPLIT WEEK FOR THE SPARTANS : This week is another week of home/away matches for the Spartans The volleyball teams hosts Nevada Tuesday night before going back on the road for a match at Air Force Thursday night. The Spartans are idle on Saturday. This is the third and final week of the Mountain West schedule that the Spartans will split their time between home and away.
San José State is looking to extend its winning streak after sweeping Utah State Saturday afternoon by scores of 25-14, 25-14, 25-9. The match took just one hour and two minutes to play.
LIVE VIDEO: Both matches will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network this week. Fans can access the stream on the Spartan website at www.sjsuspartans.com/watch and select "Mountain West Network."
TIME CHANGE: The Spartan match at UNLV on Saturday, November 16, will be played at 5 p.m. PT. The time was originally set for 7 p.m., but changed last week.
NELSON HONORED BY THE MOUNTAIN WEST: Sophomore Haylee Nelson has been named the Mountain West Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for November 4 after her performances against Boise State and Utah State last week.
Nelson hit .450 on the week to lead the Spartans to a 1-1 record. She averaged 4.00 kills and 4.25 points per set. Nelson led the team with 16 kills in the win over Utah State and hit .500 for the match. She also had a service ace, four digs and a block for SJSU. Against Boise State, Nelson hit .375 with eight kills
ABOUT NEVADA: The Wolf Pack come into Tuesday night's match with a 16-8 overall record and 6-6 MW mark, good for fifth in the league standings. The team won a pair of matches last week against Utah State (3-0) and Boise State (3-1). Head coach Lee Nelson is in his fifth year at the helm of the program

2019 meeting: Nevada won the earlier meeting, 3-2, in Reno. The Spartans took an early 2-0 lead, but the Wolf Pack won the final three sets for the win. Latahevai Lousi led SJSU with 15 kills and added three blocks, one solo and two assists. Two Spartans recorded double-doubles in the match – Haylee Nelson with 12 kills and a career-best 17 digs and Fernanda Vido with 11 kills and 11 digs.
ABOUT AIR FORCE: The Falcons enter Thursday night's match with an 8-16 overall record and 5-7 MW mark, tying with San Diego State and Fresno State for sixth place in the MW standings. The team dropped a pair of 0-3 matches last week at #14 Colorado State and Wyoming. Head coach Keith Barnett is in his first year at the helm of the program after serving as the assistant and associate head coach the past four years.

2019 meetings: The Spartans hit .387 in a 3-0 win over the Falcons in early October. The team had 45 kills on 93 attempts and only nine hitting errors. Latahevai Lousi led the hot Spartan attack as she hit .526 for the match. She had 11 kills on 19 swings and only one error. Fernanda Vido hit .391 for the match as she recorded her second double-double this week with 11 kills and 10 digs.
HEAD COACH JOLENE SHEPARDSON: San José State head coach Jolene Shepardson is in her sixth season at the helm of the program and ninth as a head coach. She has a 70-101 record in six seasons at SJSU, and a 113-148 coaching record in nine seasons. Her 50th SJSU win was a 3-2 win over Pacific on September 8, 2018.
TWO PLAYERS W/27 KILLS>UTAH STATE TOTAL KILLS: In the Spartans sweep of Utah State on November 2, two Spartan players recorded 27 kills in the match. While that may not seem significant, the Aggies only recorded 10 kills as a team. Haylee Nelson led everyone with 16 kills, while Makayla Lewis added 11kills. Two Utah State players had three kills, while two others had two.
UP NEXT: The Spartans continue on the road next week. The team plays at New Mexico on Thursday the 14th at 7 p.m. MT/6 p.m. PT, and at UNLV on Saturday the 16th at 5 p.m.
