SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose State women's soccer program put a bow on the 2019 season with their annual end of the year banquet. The banquet celebrated the success of both team and individual success with multiple awards handed out as part of the evening's festivities.
Kristen Amarikwa was named both the Offensive and Defensive MVP after a sensational senior season. The Bakersfield product was the 2019 Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year and a first team All-MW selection at defender. As the leader of the defensive back line, the center back led the Spartans to eight shutouts, the second most in program history. Offensively, she tallied a team-best five goals and 10 points, all in conference play.
In other categories, Phoebe Rapoza was named Rookie of the Year, Natalia Nava was named Most Improved Player, Carlie James picked up the Most Inspirational Award and Bella Bowers took home the Coaches Award.
The Spartans, who qualified for their fifth-straight Mountain West Tournament in 2019, now closes the page on one season and turns full attention to the next.
