Bridgeport, Pa.----- San Jose State University goalkeeper Yahav Fire and 2-meter player Finn Pardon were named to the 2019 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Men's Division I All-America team as honorable mention award winners.
For Fire, a sophomore from Kfar Hasidim, Israel, it is the second time he is being recognized as an honorable mention All-America player. Fire was a second-team All-Golden Coast Conference (GCC) honoree and was named to the conference's all-tournament team. He was credited with 273 saves, tops in the conference. His .510 save percentage led the GCC among those goalkeepers that played in more than 50 percent of a team's matches.
Pardon, a junior from Manhattan Beach, Calif., was the Spartans' scoring leader with 51 goals. A 2019 honorable mention All-GCC honoree, he tied for sixth in the conference in goal scoring and ninth in steals with 23.
"We are excited to have two All-Americans in men's water polo for the first time in 46 years," said San Jose State men's water polo head coach Bruce Watson. "It is well deserved for both Yahav and Finn. Both played important roles in our recent and best season since (our program) reinstatement five years ago."
The Spartans finished 2019 fifth in the six-team Golden Coast Conference standings and defeated UC Irvine to finish fifth in the conference's post-season tournament.
