Pat Hurst Named 2021 Team USA Solheim Cup Captain

In her own words, Hurst shares the news in 'A Call to Remember'

After serving as an assistant captain for the past three contests, former San José State women's golfer and current assistant coach Pat Hurst has been named the captain of the 2021 United States Solheim Cup team, as announced by the LPGA.

Hurst spent the past three Solheim Cups (2015, 2017, 2019) as the assistant captain to former Spartan Juli Inkster. As a player, Hurst represented the U.S. in five Solheim Cups with four team victories and had a 10-7-3 record.

Before enrolling at San Jose State, she was the 1986 USGA Girls Junior champion. As a sophomore, Hurst was the 1989 NCAA Division I Women's Golf medalist and led the Spartans to their second of three national team championships at the Stanford Golf Course.

"Now that I have been blessed with this great honor and awesome responsibility, I'm giving it all I've got," Hurst wrote in an article for LPGA.com. "For the last six months, I've been thinking that my time as an assistant Solheim Cup captain in 2015, 2017 and 2019, some of my greatest experience of my profession career, might have prepared me to be captain in 2021 at Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio."

The 2021 Solheim Cup will be played August 31-September 6, at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. The U.S. team leads Europe, 10-6, all-time in Solheim Cup play, winning two of the last three contests.
