Fullerton, Calif.----- San Jose State University women's tennis freshman Rozalina Youseva remained unbeaten in singles at the Fullerton Spring Invitational with a pair of straight-set victories on the second day of the three-day tournament.
Youseva defeated Santa Clara's Elvena Gevargiz, 6-1, 6-4, and Pacific's Dohee Lee, 6-0, 6-1. She improved her singles record at the Fullerton Spring Invitataional to 3-0.
Overall, the Spartans won seven of 13 singles matches. Tamara Culibrk, Laura Malsert, Savannah Sendar, Lara Marco Mas and Tess Menten each won a match. Marco Mas was the only one that needed a third-set tiebreaker for her win.
San Jose State also picked up its first two doubles victories in the tournament. Head coach Chad Skorupka shuffled his doubles lineup with positive results for the pairs of Culibrk and Malsert and Alba Pedrero Galindo and Marco Mas. Each Spartan duo recorded a win over Pacific doubles teams, Karina Vyrlan and Anna Ramos Vinolas, and Kiara Kosan and Lee, by identical 6-2 scores.
The three-day tournament that also includes Grand Canyon and Cal State Fullerton concludes on Sunday, January 19.
