Swimming and Diving Named Scholar All-America for 14th Straight Semester

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The San José State women's swimming and diving program has once again been named a Scholar All-America team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). This is the 14th consecutive semester in which the Spartans have earned the prestigious recognition.

"I continue to be both grateful and humbled to work with such a tremendous group of student-athletes," head coach Sage Hopkins said. "Our program has always placed academics as the primary focus and it is great to see our continued academic success.  Now that I am in my 15th season at San José State University, it is tremendously gratifying to see so many of our alumni leading satisfying and successful professional and family lives. I am looking very much forward to seeing our current team continue in the footsteps of the Spartans who have preceded them."

To earn the honor, teams must have a collective minimum grade-point average of 3.00. The San Jose State squad exceeded that requirement with a 3.22 cumulative grade-point average for the fall semester.

"Our women's swimming and diving program is more than deserving of this national award," said Eileen Daley, senior associate athletics director for academics and student services and the department's senior woman administrator. "They are one of our top performing teams academically and the fact that they have extended their streak to 14 straight semesters is incredibly impressive. Congratulations to the swimmers and divers on earning this recognition once again."
