BOISE, Idaho – Unable to climb back from an early deficit, San José State dropped an 85-67 decision at Boise State on Wednesday despite having four scorers finish the evening in double figures.
The Spartans (15-11, 9-6 Mountain West) were solid on both ends of the floor but the Broncos ultimately emerged on top. SJSU finished the night shooting at a 36.9 percent clip from the field and was 18-for-21 from the free throw line.
Forward Tyra Whitehead led the Spartans with 16 points and 10 rebounds in this one. The double-double is her third straight and 12th this season.
Senior Fieme'a Hafoka and forward Cydni Lewis were right behind Whitehead with 11 points a piece. Lewis grabbed six rebounds off the bench while Hafoka finished the night with four boards.
Sophomore Raziya Potter was the other Spartan in double figures, dropping 10 points in the defeat.

Head coach Jamie Craighead's team trailed 27-13 early in the second quarter before going on its first big run of the game. A 13-5 burst, spearheaded by a pair of Ayzhiana Basallo free throws and capped on a pretty pull-up jumper from Whitehead, pulled the visitors from San José to within 32-26 with two mintues remaining in the half.
San José State trailed 38-28 at the break and would pull within single digits early in the third on a Hafoka jumper. The senior has now scored in double figures in three of her last four games.
Boise State would eventually pull away in the second half, leading 67-46 at the end of the third quarter before ultimately earning the 85-67 win.
The Spartans will look to bounce back on Saturday when they play host to Colorado State, tipping off the team's final homestand of the season. Tip-off for that one is set for 2:00 p.m. inside the Provident Credit Union Event Center.
