Four Swimmers Earn All-MW Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Jose State senior swimmer Gabby Heng, the third-place finisher in the 100 freestyle at the 2020 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships, headlines four Spartans that were named to the 2020 All-Mountain West team, as released by the conference on Monday.

Heng, a product of Walnut Creek, Calif., picked up her second-straight all-conference award in the discipline after placing fifth last season. She swam the final in 49.79 to take third. Previously that morning, she swam a personal-best in the prelim with a time of 49.72, tying her older sister, Brittany Heng, for No. 3 on the all-time top-10 list.

Joining Heng on the all-conference team are Violani Auva'a, Chloe Limargo and Madelyn Sailors.

Auva'a, a senior, picked up her first all-conference award for her eighth-place finish in the 100 butterfly. The Santa Rosa product swam a personal-best time of 54.41, topping her previous spot at No. 5 on the all-time top-10 list.

Limargo also picked up her first all-conference award. The sophomore also finished eighth in her discipline, the 100 breaststroke, with a time of 1:02.39.

Sailors earned her second all-conference award after picking up All-MW honors for her leg in the 200 free relay last season. The Rochester, Indiana, native earned it this year in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 23.18.

"I'd like to congratulate Lani, Gabby, Chloe and Maddy," head coach Sage Hopkins said. "They all performed exceptionally last week. I am especially proud of Lani (Auva'a) in competing so well at her final Mountain West Championship."
