Colorado Springs, Colo.—San José State freshman pitcher Shannon Haddad has been named the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week for her performances from February 18-23.
Haddad went 4-0 in the circle with a save in five appearances. She had a 0.00 ERA as she just one unearned in run in 19.2 innings pitched. Haddad pitched two complete game shutouts, 8-0 over Canisius and 9-0 over California Baptist. She struck out 28 of the 75 batters she faced over the week.
Haddad started the week by striking out 10 Canisius batters in the 8-0 win in five innings. She followed that up by striking out 11 batters in the 9-0 victory over California Baptist in five innings.
She pitched two innings of relief in a 3-1 win over Cal Poly for her save. She allowed only one hit and struck out one.
San José State is on a 14-game winning streak, a school record, and hosts cross-town rival Santa Clara Wednesday night at 6 p.m. The Spartans then play at the San Diego Classic this weekend on the campus of San Diego State.
