San Jose, Calif.----- San Jose State University Athletics finance analyst Anh-Dao Nguyen-Church and associate media relations director Amy Villa were two of 92 university employees honored at the 52nd annual Spartan Service Celebration hosted by University President Mary A. Papazian.
Nguyen-Church was one of 12 honored for 25 years of full-time service to the university; Villa, one of 31 recognized for 20 years of full-time service.
"Both of these individuals have contributed greatly to the success of our student-athletes, coaches and staff. I am deeply appreciative of their service and their support," said San Jose State University athletics director Marie Tuite, one of the President's Cabinet presentors at the campus-wide event.
A 1988 San Jose State graduate, Nguyen-Church has served the athletics department in several roles since 1992. The former women's tennis conference champion as a student-athlete was named the team's head coach for a 19-season span. In 2011, she was named the Director of Operations for Olympic Sports. Starting with the 2012 season, Nguyen-Church was the Spartan Football administrative coordinator. In 2017, she has held positions connected with business operations.
Villa first came to San Jose State in 1993 as a sports information intern. She spent the 1996 school year in a similar position at the University of Minnesota women's athletics department before returning to the Spartans as the assistant sports information director. Villa was promoted to associate director in 2003.
The 1993 Capital University graduate is a long-time member of CoSIDA's (College Sports Information Directors of America) Academic All-America Committee, the USBWA (United States Basketball Writers Association) and the Association for Women in Sports Media.
