Milne was selected as the 2020 MPSF Freshman of the Year after leading the conference on bars and beam with the top NQS on bars at 9.840 and beam at 9.850. She was a first team All-MPSF honoree on both events. Milne had an outstanding freshman campaign, setting the San José State and MPSF beam record with a 9.925 at back-to-back road meets at Seattle Pacific and Sacramento State to end February. She is the only Spartan gymnast to ever record a 9.925 on beam. For the season, Milne won three beam titles including both meets that she scored a 9.925.
In the final meet of the season at Denver, Milne recorded a 9.925 on bars to tie for the second-best bars score in school history. She is only the fourth Spartan gymnast to achieve that score on bars. Milne won the bars title at Sacramento State in February with a 9.900.
Milne follows in the footsteps of Chan as the only two Spartans to receive MPSF Freshman of the Year honors.
"I am really proud of both of them," said Spartan head coach Joanne Bowers. "Taylor has a tremendous work ethic that she has shown over the past four years. She has the mental toughness that she carries into meets when it counts.
"Emma also has that mental toughness too and has a bright future as a Spartan. They both train well and can bring it when it counts."
