BANDON, Ore. - The San Jose State men's golf team sits in 11th after the opening round of the Bandon Dunes Championship, hosted by Gonzaga.
Bryce Wortman fired a 1-over 72 in the opening round, tied for 20th on the individual leaderboard. Wortman had four birdies and two bogies on the front nine plus a double bogey and a bogey on the back nine.
Caleb Shetler was just behind with a 2-over 73, tied for 31st. Shetler had two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey. The double came his first hole of the round, at No. 4.
Senior Sean Yu posted a 4-over 73, Nate Jetter had a 5-over 76 and Carl Corpus tallied a 7-over 78.
The Spartans will be back on the course on Monday and wrap up play with a third and final round on Tuesday.
