Second-Team All-MPSF Honors For Lili Urvari

Woodland, Calif.----- San Jose State University's Lili Urvari was one of seven Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MSPF) women's water polo players honored as a second-team all-conference selection.

The junior from Szentes, Hungary was enjoying her most productive season at the college level when the 2020 women's water polo season ended in mid-March in response to fighting COVID-19.

Urvari was the Spartans' team leader in goal scoring with a single-season personal best 33 in 17 contests. A consistent scoring threat, she scored in 16 of the Spartans' 17 contests and matched her single-match high of four goals in matches against California and UCLA. Urvari ranked ninth in the MPSF in goals scored per match and was second in the conference in steals with a team-high 24.

"I believe Lili was able to capture the tone and strength of our team this year. Even when other teams took extra effort to eliminate her team contributions, she continued to handle the adversity and made key plays for our team.  Her tremendous work ethic and dedication carried through in her performance.  Our team is extremely proud of Lili's work this season and we look forward to her continued success," said San Jose State University women's water polo head coach Beth Harberts.

Urvari was more than the team-scoring leader for San Jose State, 14th in the final national coaches poll. She scored two game-winning goals for the Spartans in 2020.

The first was with 0:03 remaining in regulation, her fourth goal of the  contest, as the Spartans defeated #6-California, 9-8, in a non-conference encounter in the Cal Cup in January. The win over the Golden Bears was San Jose State's first since 2007.

The southpaw attacker also scored the game-winner with 0:49 in the fourth quarter of an 8-7 non-conference road win at then-#14 UC Davis. Urvari's goal was her second of the match.

The All-MPSF honor was her first as a Spartan.
