San Jose State University assistant football coach Alonzo Carter was a guest on the Mark Willard Show heard on KNBR Radio (680 AM, 104.5 FM San Francisco), Monday, June 8, at 8:35 p.m.
The Spartans' running backs coach and recruiting coordinator discussed the increasingly popular West Coast Zoom Clinics he first organized in May 2020. The clinics were featured in an article by The Athletic's Tashan Reed on June 8. On June 4, there were 300 minority coaches participating discussing issues connected with national unrest such as COVID-19 and #BlackLivesMatter.
"We're not going to talk ball; let's just talk about the game within the game. Let's talk about the issues that are in college football and how we can help each other," Carter said in The Athletic feature.
The popularity of the West Coast Zoom Clinic prompted Coach Carter to increase the capacity of future Zoom Clinics to 500 participants.
