SAN JOSE, Calif. - Keep your phone handy and check your email this week, you may be hearing from the Spartans.
Starting on Monday, June 22, the San Jose State athletics department will begin "Operation Thank You Spartan Nation," individually reaching out over a 10-day period to every living person who has made a donation to the Spartans.
"We are so grateful for the support of our loyal Spartans," said athletics director Marie Tuite. "The last few months have been unprecedented and it is abundantly clear that now, more than ever, we need to simply say thank you to our Spartan Athletics Fund members. Our student-athletes, coaches and staff together will be reaching out to express our gratitude to those that support San Jose State Athletics."
The Spartan Athletics Fund, under the guidance of new Deputy Director of Athletics Development Rob Clark, has rounded up contact information for as many past donors as possible and will reach out over the coming 10 days to say thanks.
"It is our mission to build meaningful relationships with alumni and friends of San Jose State University," Clark said. "That's why we are going to flood Spartan Nation with positive messages of gratitude to demonstrate the impact that Spartan Athletics Fund members are making in our lives."
Operation Thank You Spartan Nation will include emails, phone calls and social media messages. Coaches, staff and student-athletes will be contacting past donors to simply say thanks.
There are still many uncertainties in sports due to the COVID-19 epidemic, but San Jose State coaches and student-athletes can't wait to get back to playing the sports they love for the university community they love.
