Men's Soccer Adds Another NorCal Product To 2020 Class

San José, Calif. – San José State head men's soccer coach Simon Tobin has announced the signing of Mazi Wyatt to a National Letter of Intent. The Oakland native will compete for the Spartans beginning in the 2020 season.

Wyatt joins fellow Northern California products Charles Debling and Joel Garcia in the 2020 signing class, each of whom signed in December

"Mazi and Charles are both goal-scoring strikers with good strength and pace," says Tobin. "They offer the explosiveness required in the final third and I expect them to become a strong attacking tandem at SJSU for the next four years. Joel is a modern, hybrid defender-midfielder. He is intelligent and always comfortable with the ball at his feet. These three NorCal products will make a difference on and off the field for SJSU."

Starring at Oakland Tech, Wyatt finished his high school career in style with a CIF regional title in March. The striker scored both of his team's goals to lead Oakland Tech to a 2-0 victory in the final.

"Not only have I gained experience through club and high school ball, I've also competed with much older age groups that have played a major role in my development as a player," Wyatt says. "I look forward to continually growing my game with the San José State squad and coach Simon."

Wyatt heads to SJSU as the CIF Oakland Athletic League's Most Valuable Player for the 2019-20 season after a sensational year in which the striker tallied 25 goals for Tech.

The trio of Northern California products in this signing class join a Spartan roster already stacked with some of the region's top high school talent. The team's 2019 side featured 23 players that hailed from the region.
