San José State University To Begin Search For New Softball Head Coach

San José State University Athletics Director Marie Tuite announced the University will begin a national search for a new softball head coach.

Peter Turner, the Spartans' head coach since the 2007 season, will no longer be at the university effective September 1, 2020, as his contract concludes.

In his 14 seasons as head coach, San José State had a 413-329 win-loss record. The Spartans participated in two NCAA Tournaments as the Western Athletic Conference champion in 2013 and the Mountain West champion in 2017. Turner was the conference "Coach of the Year" at the end of each of those championship seasons.

Chase Turner, a San José State University softball assistant coach since 2010, accepted interim head coaching duties and responsibilities until the next head coach is appointed.
