San José, Calif. - San José State head women's basketball coach Jamie Craighead announced Thursday that former Spartan standout Fieme'a Hafoka will continue with the program as a student assistant coach.
A native of Kihei, Hawaii, Hafoka recently wrapped up her senior season and is now a graduate student at SJSU after receiving her bachelor's degree in child and adolescent development in May.
"We are thrilled that Me'a is going to be working with the program as a student assistant coach," says Craighead. "She was a tremendous student-athlete and - more importantly - is an even better person."

A 5-foot-9 guard, Hafoka spent three seasons as a team captain for San José State. She ended her playing career having appeared in 121 games, just one contest short of the school record. The Kihei product shined in the classroom as well, receiving Academic All-Mountain West honors in each of her four years on campus.
"I am so blessed and couldn't be more thankful for this opportunity that Coach Craighead has given me," Hafoka says. "I'm super excited to expand my knowledge of the game on the coaching side as it has been a dream of mine to become a head coach one day. I now have all the resources I need to reach that dream through the help of the staff here. I am ready to learn and contribute in any way that I can to help this program have a successful season."
The Spartans are fresh off one of the most successful seasons in program history, posting the school's most wins in 40 years despite having its trip to a postseason tournament canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The team's 19 victories marked the nation's largest single-season win turnaround for the 2019-20 season.
