Our next featured freshman q&a is all about Bella Keomounpane! Bella joined the Spartans from Fresno where she was a four-year varsity player at Clovis East High School. In four seasons, Keomounpane appeared in 17 matches, scoring seven goals and adding four assists. A two-sport star, she also ran two years of track. Keomounpane played club for and had a big hand in helping the California Odyssey capture the 2018 NPL East championship title.

Q: Who is your favorite soccer player?
BELLA: Tobin Heath. She's such a technical player and her touches are amazing. I love watching her break ankles out on the field.
Q: What are some of your hobbies?
BELLA: I like to listen to music and paint.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
BELLA: "Tangled"
Q: How old were you when you first began playing soccer, and at what point did you know that you wanted to play collegiately?
BELLA: I started playing soccer when I was four years old. I decided that I wanted to play at the collegiate level when I was 13. Around that time is when I started to take soccer seriously.
Q: What is your favorite emoji?
BELLA: It would be the fairy emoji.
Q: If you could have dinner with any person, living or dead, real or fictional, who would it be?
BELLA: Zendaya. She seems really down to earth and like just an overall cool person.
Q: If you were stuck on a desert island, what three things would you bring with you and why?
BELLA: I would bring a water filter to make sure that I'm drinking clean water, a really big book to keep me entertained and a knife so that I could cut things if I needed to.
Q: What is the best part about playing your position?
BELLA: I think the best part about playing center mid and being a winger is having the opportunity to to be creative and attack.
Q: What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?
BELLA: "Do what you do best. Don't try to be someone you're not." My old coach would tell us that before every game, but I use his advice every day in life.
Q: Why did you choose San Jose State?
BELLA: I love the environment of San Jose State. The team chemistry and connection between players, coaches and staff makes it feel like one, big welcoming family.
