Michael Ofoegbu, a 6-foot-7 forward, is going to bring a lot of skill with him to the court in his first season with the San Jose State men's basketball team. He joined the program after playing a season alongside fellow Spartan signee Chase Courtney at Golden State Prep in 2019-20. In that season, Ofoegbu averaged 14 points, eight boards, two assists and a steal per game.
Before playing prep ball, Ofoegbu was a two-time first team all-league selection at Mayfair High in Lakewood, California. His senior year in particular was a big one as he shot 58 percent from the floor and 41 percent from 3-point range while carrying the team to the CIF Div. 2AA Championship. The big man averaged 17.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, and a night to remember during their playoff run as he recorded a double-double of 19 points, 11 rebounds in a win over Rancho Cucamonga. His career-best performance saw a monster double-double of 29 points and 20 rebounds in the regular season.
