San Jose State's Cade Hall Added To Hendricks Award Watch List

Chicago, Ill.----- San Jose State University defensive lineman Cade Hall is one of 33 players listed for the Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award watch list.
 
            The junior from Morgan Hill, Calif., and a graduate of San Jose's Bellarmine Prep was added to the list following his outstanding play in the Spartans' unbeaten first half of the season. Now in his third year as a starter, Hall ranks fifth nationally among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players and the Mountain West with 5.5 quarterback sacks in four games. He also is tied for the conference lead and tied for 19th nationally with 6.5 tackles for loss.
 
            Hall earned Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week honors for games ending the weekend of November 14. In the 34-17 win over UNLV, he was credited with seven tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 quarterback sacks. The UNLV game marked the third consecutive contest Hall was credited with a quarterback sack.
 
            The Ted Hendricks Defensive End of the Year Award is named in honor of the first three-time first-team All-America who played the position at the University of Miami and went on to a 15-season Pro Football Hall of Fame career (1969-83) with three National Football League franchises.
 
            Candidates are evaluated on their playing ability, winning attitude, leadership, academic success and community participation. More candidates may be added to the watch list prior to the naming of a group of finalists.
