Brent Brennan Named Finalist For 2020 Eddie Robinson Coach Of The Year

Dallas, Texas----- San Jose State University football head coach Brent Brennan is one of nine finalists for the 2020 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award presented by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) in conjunction with the Allstate Sugar Bowl.
 
            Brennan directed the Spartans to a 7-0 win-loss record and the Mountain West championship with a 34-20 win over Boise State. The Spartans are 19th in the Associated Press and 20th in the Amway Coaches December 20 polls and is 22nd in the College Football Playoff final rankings. San Jose State's 7-0 record is its best win-loss mark since 1939 when the Spartans completed a perfect 13-0 mark.
 
            The 2020 Mountain West Coach of the Year is the first San Jose State head coach named a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award, named after the former Grambling Tigers Hall of Fame head coach whose teams won 408 games in 56 seasons. The FWAA has honored a national "Coach of the Year" every year since 1957.
 
            Other finalists are Tom Allen of Indiana, Matt Campbell of Iowa State, Jamey Chadwell of Coastal Carolina, Karl Dorrell of Colorado, Luke Fickell of Cincinnati, Nick Saban of Alabama, Kalani Sitake of BYU, and Clemson's Dabo Swinney.
 
            The 2020 award recipient will be announced the week of January 4-8, 2021 with an official presentation scheduled for a date to be determined.
