Spartans' Cade Hall Named USA Today All-America

Fairfax, Va.----- Cade Hall, San Jose State University's 2020 Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, was named a USA Today's All-America second-team selection.
 
            The junior from Morgan Hill, Calif., and graduate of Bellarmine Prep in San Jose was one of the country's top "big play" defensive linemen this season. Currently, he ranks second nationally among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players in quarterback sacks with a 1.38 per game average and tied for 12th in tackles for loss with a 1.7 per game average.
 
            For the season to date prior to the Spartans' Arizona Bowl appearance against Mid-American Conference champion Ball State (6-1) on December 31, Hall has 10.0 quarterback sacks and 12.0 tackles for loss for the undefeated and #19-ranked San Jose State (7-0) – the Mountain West champion.
 
            Hall had a quarterback sack and a tackle for loss in five of the Spartans' seven games. He had a season and career high of 3.0 quarterback sacks and 4.0 tackles for loss in the 34-17 November 14 win over UNLV.
 
            Besides, his All-America and Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year honor, Hall was the Mountain West Football Championship game Defensive Most Valuable Player and a first team All-Mountain West honoree.
 
            Hall is the first San Jose State defensive player in eight years to earn an All-America honor in football. Prior to this season, defensive end Travis Johnson was the most recent Spartan on the defensive side to receive All-America recognition.
 
            The Arizona Bowl from Tucson, Ariz., will be televised by CBS Sports on December 31, starting at 11:00 a.m. (PT)/12:00 p.m. (MT)/1:00 p.m. (CT)/2:00 p.m. (ET).
