SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
»    Boise State checks in to the weekend's matchup as one of the top teams in the Mountain West with a 6-1, 2-0 mark.

»    Senior guard Derrick Alston, Jr. has been outstanding thus far in 2020-21 and is the reigning Mountain West Player of the Week after averaging 21 points, five rebounds and 4.5 assists per game last week against New Mexico.

RICH IS JUST DIFFERENT
»    Senior guard Richard Washington is averaging 22.0 points per game through five games in 2020-21, which leads the Mountain West and ranks 14th in NCAA D1.

»    Washington has reached double-figure points in all five games, and has three performances of 20-plus points.

RAISING ARIZONA
»    Due to restrictions set in place by Santa Clara County in response to COVID-19, the Spartans have relocated to Phoenix, Arizona to play their 2020-21 conference slate until regulations allow for their return to the Bay Area. Both SJSU men's and women's programs have made the move to Arizona Grand Resort and Spa.

A SURPRISE TO BE SURE, BUT A WELCOME ONE
»    Freshman Hugo Clarkin earned a spot in the opening lineup in the season-opener and has remained there ever since. The 7-footer pulled down six rebounds and had six points against Saint Mary's in his second game in the role.

»    Through five games, Clarkin is shooting 63.6 percent from the field.

MENDOZA MAKING MOST OF HIS MINUTES
»    Freshman Sebastian Mendoza has been finding himself in the Spartan rotation more and more each week, and has been making the most of the opportunity. He is currently averaging 5.0 ppg and had a season-best 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting in game one against Utah State. Mendoza followed up by making his first-career start in the second game against the Aggies, finishing with seven points on the night.
