SAN JOSE, Calif. – San José State University athletics director Marie Tuite has announced the Spartans' football team will meet USC for a non-conference contest on Sept. 4, 2021 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
"Facing USC in Los Angeles is a great opportunity for our student-athletes and fans," Tuite said. "Southern California is an important footprint for us in recruiting and we're very excited to add this game to our 2021 football schedule."
The Spartans and Trojans have met four times previously, first in 1995 and most recently in 2009, when USC was ranked No. 3 in the nation. SJSU is 0-4 all-time against USC. The Spartans are also scheduled to visit USC in 2024.
This game replaces a previously scheduled game at Georgia that was canceled.
"I'd like to thank Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity for being transparent with us during the process," Tuite said. "I've experienced the atmosphere in Athens on gameday and it's a special place. Maybe one day in the future the Spartans will make the trip."
In addition to the game at USC, the Spartans will face Southern Utah and New Mexico State at home and Western Michigan on the road as part of their 2021 non-conference slate.
