San José State University women's basketball player Tyra Whitehead and football player Cade Hall are the Student-Athletes of the Month for December, presented by BLR Sign Systems.
Whitehead averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds per game in December. She had 18 points and 10 rebounds against Utah State and added 16 points and 10 rebounds at Boise State. Whitehead also totaled six assists, four steals and two blocked shots for the month.
Hall played in three games during the month, leading San José State to three wins and the Mountain West championship. He was credited with 4.5 quarterback sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss in the three games. Hall was named the Defensive Most Valuable Player of the Mountain West Football Championship game. He had 2.0 quarterback sacks and 3.0 tackles for loss in the 34-20 win over Boise State.
