Brent Brennan - A Finalist For Lombardi Foundation's National Coach Of The Year

Houston, Texas ----- For his leadership during San Jose State University's first football conference championship season of any kind since 1991, Spartans' head coach Brent Brennan is one of four finalists for the 2020 Lombardi Foundation's national Coach of the Year award.

The Coach of the Year honor is one of four Lombardi Honors that will be announced Wednesday, February 17, beginning at 1:00 (PT)/3:00 p.m. (CT)/4:00 p.m. (ET) during the Professional Athletes and Family Offices Unite for Impact online event produced by Entoro Capital, the Houston chapter of the Family Office Network. Registration to watch the 90-minute event live is available at http://bit.ly/3qonM9L

The other Lombardi Honors are the Lombardi Award given to the top college player regardless of position, the Lombardi Legendary Coach Award, and the Lombardi Broadcaster of the Year Award.

Named after legendary Green Bay Packers and Super Bowl winning head coach Vince Lombardi (1913-1970), the Lombardi Honors embody the coach's beliefs in awareness, decisiveness, focus, leveraging team strengths, inspiration, performance and accountability. The seven traits are triggered by skill, knowledge, and disposition.

"Leadership is what we now honor with the award named after one of America's most acclaimed leaders, Vince Lombardi. Today, leadership is the attribute in greatest demand, yet shortest in supply…," says Rick Slemaker, Lombardi Foundation chairman.

Indiana's Tom Allen, Coastal Carolina's Jamey Chadwell, and Iowa State's Matt Campbell join Brennan as the finalists for the Lombardi Foundation's annual national Coach of the Year award.

In his fourth season as the San Jose State head coach, Brennan effectively dealt with issues connected with the start of the COVID-19 worldwide pandemic in March 2020, the impact of the California wildfires throughout the late spring and summer months, and local, state, and Mountain West protocols enacted in the fall for a college football season to occur.

Brennan directed San Jose State to an undefeated six-game regular season record and then the Mountain West championship, an appearance in the Offerpad Arizona Bowl, a 7-1 overall win-loss record, and a 24th ranking in the final Associated Press national poll. The Mountain West championship was the Spartans' first football title since sharing the 1991 Big West Conference crown and first outright football conference championship since 1990.

Linebacker Zaven Collins of Tulsa, defensive end Tarron Jackson of Coastal Carolina, quarterback Trevor Lawrence of Clemson, and wide receiver DeVonta Smith of Alabama are the finalists for the 2020 Lombardi Award based on leadership, character and resiliency.
