Spartans Seventh After Day One of MW Championships

Las Vegas, Nev.—The San José State University women's swimming and diving finished day one in seventh place after two races at the 2021 Mountain West Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

The Spartans scored 90 points after swimming the 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay. The team is just six points behind Colorado State and 10 points behind Fresno State.
 
The 200 medley relay team of Madison Grimes, Izzie Fraire, Rebecca Petoe and Reagan Mathieson finished seventh at 1:46.58. The 800 freestyle relay team of Mathieson, Ally Chislett, Makenna Mathieson and Megan Green was eighth at 7:45.89.
 
Day two begins with prelims in the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle. Finals on Thursday begin at 6:30 p.m. Races can be seen live on the Mountain West Network.
