San Jose State University Athletics Director Marie Tuite will deliver the keynote address at the Silicon Valley Business Journal's first Bizwomen Mentoring Monday on February 22.
With large group in-person gatherings prohibited due to Santa Clara County COVID-19 guidelines, the online event will begin at 10:00 a.m. (PT).
"By participating in today's event, you are saying, you want to grow as a professional. You want to continue learning and I want to congratulate you for doing so," says Tuite in her remarks. "I want our mentees to believe they can reach their professional goals, and to carry themselves with their head high and their shoulders back."
Thirty of Silicon Valley's most influential women in the fields of engineering, finance, marketing, and non-profits are joining the Spartans' athletics director as mentors in the 90-minute coaching session for future female leaders.
In 2020, the Silicon Valley Business Journal named Tuite one of its 100 "Women of Influence" celebrating the most influential women in Silicon Valley. As one of 12 women nationally with the responsibilities of leading and managing a NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) intercollegiate athletics program, Tuite directs a 22-sport program with 500 student-athletes that includes the 2020 Mountain West champion Spartan football team.
Registration can be completed at www.bizjournals.com and the event is free of charge. The NAWBO (Network Association of Women Business Owners) and Jennifer Graham Photography are local sponsors. The American City Business Journals, the parent of the Silicon Valley Business Journal, projects 10,000 women nationally registering for similar events like this one in major American cities.
