This Week in San José State Athletics returns this week to catch you up on last week's action and see what's ahead for the Spartans!

Please note - Due to Santa Clara County guidelines, spectators are not permitted at any San José State Athletics events. 

Men's Basketball (5-15, 3-13 MW)
This Week: The Spartans are heading to Laramie for their final road games of the season, a two-game swing against Wyoming beginning on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. MT.

Last Week: The Spartans made their return to the Provident Credit Union Event Center for the first time in 255 days for a two-game stand against UNLV. SJSU fell 76-60 in game one before nearly pulling off the upset in game two with a final of 67-64. 
Spartan Fact: Trey Smith has scored in double figures in six of the last seven games and is averaging 15.2 points in the last five games.

Volleyball (1-5, 1-5)
This Week: The Spartans are off this week after playing the past two weeks on the road. The team returns to Spartan Gym for matches against Nevada on March 5 & 6.
Last Week: The team fell at Fresno State, 3-0 and 3-2, last week.
Spartan Fact: For the first time since the 2017 season, two Spartans collected 20 or more digs in a match. Haylee Nelson had a career-best 21 digs, while Sarah Smevog had 20 digs, her third match this season with 20 or more digs. The last two Spartans to have 20+ digs in a match was Luiza Andrade (23) and Jamie Hirai (20) in the five-set up of #19 Colorado State at home on November 11, 2017.

Men's Soccer (1-0, 1-0 WAC)
This Week: Fresh off a comeback victory to start the season, the Spartans return to Spartan Soccer Complex for their home opener this week. They will meet Grand Canyon on Saturday for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. 
Last Week: The team rallied late for a 2-1 win at Dixie State. Senior Rudi Castro was named WAC Offensive Player of the Week after tallying an assist on both Spartan goals. 
Spartan Fact: Saturday's victory in St. George marked the program's first win in regulation when trailing in the 79th minute or later since Sept. 26, 2010 (trailed San Francisco 0-1 in 87th minute - won 2-1).

Women's Swimming & Diving
Last Week: The team finished the shortened season at the Mountain West Championships last week in Las Vegas. 
Spartan Fact: Rebecca Petoe earned All-Mountain West honors for her performance in the 100 butterfly last week at the MW Championships. She finished eighth in the 100 butterfly final with a time of 56.64. The sophomore from Bre Sopra Lugano, Switzerland, advanced to the finals after she swam a career-best 55.96 in prelims.

Softball (0-3)
This Week: The Spartans will look to get back to form on the road against Saint Mary's in Moraga.  
Last Week: SJSU opened the season with a three-game series at Stanford. 
Spartan Fact: Alyssa Graham was 4-for-7 (.571) at the plate against Stanford with a double and RBI. Four Spartan newcomers made their debuts in the series.

Women's Tennis (2-0)
This Week: The Spartans play three matches in six days this week. The team starts the week at Sacramento State on Monday (a reschedule from last week), then hosts San Francisco on Friday before playing at Santa Clara Saturday morning.
Updated Results - The Spartans swept Sacramento State, 4-0, Monday afternoon. The Spartans won the doubles point and got singles victories from Alba Pedro Galindo, Irena Muradyan and Jovena Babic.

Men's Water Polo (0-3)
This Week:The Spartans return to the Bay Area to play at Santa Clara on Sunday, February 28.
Last Week: The team opened the abbreviated season with three matches in Southern California. The Spartans lost twice at Pepperdine (13-10, 17-10) and against Loyola Marymount 15-6.
Spartan Fact: The Spartans started the season ranked #10 nationally and played teams ranked #5 and #6 in the country. Finn Pardon was San Jose State's top scorer with nine goals in the three matches.

Women's Golf
This Week: The Spartans open the spring season and play their first competition of the school year on Thursday with a dual against Stanford at the Stanford Golf Course.
Spartan Fact: This week marks the first time the Spartans have played competitively as a team since March 9-10, 2020, at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational.

Women's Gymnastics
This Week: The Spartans open the 2021 season with a meet at Stanford this Saturday at noon. San José State and Stanford are looking to showcase individual performances as they get ready for the season.

Women's Water Polo (0-0)
This Week: The Spartans open their season at #8-Cal, this Saturday, February 27, at 3:00 p.m., in a non-conference match.
Spartan Fact: The Spartans were ranked 16th in the February 17 Collegiate Water Polo Association national poll.
