Tucson, Ariz.—San José State women's golfer Kajsa Arwefjäll shot a five-under 67 Saturday and is tied for fifth after two rounds of the MountainView Collegiate in Tucson. She and the Spartans moved up one spot in the team standings and are now eighth out of 14 teams.
Arwefjäll was one of two players to shoot a 67 for the second round and the fourth player in the tournament to record the score. She is the second Spartan to shoot a 67 this season and the 12th in school history to record a 67. Arwefjäll is three shots behind Maja Stark from Oklahoma State, who also shot a 67, and is at eight-under 136 for the two rounds.
Starting her round on #10, she was two-under after five holes, but a bogey on #15 put her back at -1. From the 16th hole on, she made four birdies and eight pars for her five-under 67.
Antonia Malate shot a one-over 73 and moved up to 35th place at five-over 149. She started her round by making eight consecutive pars before back-to-back birdies found her at two-under par. A bogey on #3, a double bogey on #6 and pars on the other holes left her at one over for the day.
Jordyn Parr is tied for 40th at six-over 150, while Louisa Carlbom and Jadan Gonzalez are tied for 52nd at eight-over 152. Parr shot a 76
Texas continues to lead the field at 18-under, 558, followed by Iowa State at -11 and Oklahoma State at -10. The Spartans are nine shots behind fellow Mountain West foe UNLV and one shot in front of Kansas State.
San José State begins the final round on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. off of #1.
