San Jose, Calif.—In accordance with the SJSU Adapt Plan that restricts visitors to campus facilities, the San José State University Athletics Department will continue the policy of no fans at home sporting events for the remainder of the 2021 spring semester.
San José State is currently in "Phase 2: Modified Campus" which restricts visitors to campus facilities to essential staff or those who need to work on campus for instructional purposes.
Eleven sports are affected by this policy including the Spring Football Game, baseball, which plays at Excite Ballpark, and men's golf, which hosts the nationally-televised 74th Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz in April.
"We wish we could welcome our families and friends to our home event; however, we must continue to follow San José State University, Santa Clara County and State of California guidelines and directives," said San José State Director of Athletics Marie Tuite. "While Santa Clara County has moved into the Orange tier, it is imperative that we follow university directives as we continue to provide the best collegiate experience for our student-athletes, coaches and staff the best possible college experience during the COVID-19 pandemic."
