LAS VEGAS - San Jose State soccer was unable to find the back of the net on Friday evening against UNLV, falling to the Rebels by a final of 3-0 at Peter Johann Memorial Field.
The Spartan offense was limited to five shot attempts, including a pair off the foot of freshman Evan House, with three total attempts on frame. At the other end, UNLV tallied 18 attempts with nine on-goal. Sophomore keeper Zoe Aguirre made six saves in the losing effort.
The Rebels first struck in the 13th minute as Lourdes Borsch capitalized on a well-placed cross in the box for the advantage. Borsch finished the night with a game-high four shots, two on-goal and the score. The Spartan defense locked things down for the remainder of the period and went into the halftime break trailing 1-0. Out of that break, UNLV quickly tacked on their second goal in 49th minute and added an insurance score in the 77th minute.
San Jose State (0-5-1) has one more stop on their 11-day road trip before returning to San Jose. The Spartans will square off against the Aztecs of San Diego State on Sunday for a noon kick in San Diego.
