#15-Spartans Edged By #11-UC Davis, 6-4

Davis, Calif.----- #11-UC Davis broke a 4-4 tie late in the third quarter with a pair of goals in a 1:10 span for a 6-4 non-conference women's water polo win over #15-San Jose State University.

            The Spartans (0-2) scored first on Olga Descalzi's first of two goals in the match at 6:39 of the first quarter. Descalzi Portell tied the match at 4-4 at 3:03 of the third quarter on San Jose State's second power-play score of the contest.

            In between, the Spartans battled back from a pair of two-goal deficits. Lili Urvari and Tyanna Supreme joined Descalzi Portell in the scoring column for San Jose State.
 
            McKenna Martin scored the eventual match-winning goal for the Aggies with 0:47 remaining in the third quarter. After a Spartan turnover to open the fourth quarter, Alyssa Lengtat closed out the scoring on UC Davis' first possession of the final period.
 
            Goalkeeper Hannah Henry was credited with six saves. San Jose State outshot UC Davis (2-2), 30-22, and only converted 2-of-11 power play chances.
 
            UC Davis goalkeeper nellie McAdams was credited with 14 saves.
 
            San José State closes out its weekend's action with a non-conference match Sunday, March 7, at Santa Clara. First sprint is at 10:30 a.m.
