Softball Drops Two To Fullerton

FULLERTON, Calif. - It just wasn't San Jose State softball's day as the Spartans were swept by Cal State Fullerton on Saturday to conclude their time at the Judi Garman Classic with a 1-3 record. 

The Spartans fell on Saturday by finals of 15-1 and 6-0 as they dropped to 3-7 on the year. They have one more stop on their Southern Cal road trip before returning to the Bay, and it's a big one as they get set to take on No. 1 UCLA tomorrow in Los Angeles.

Game One - Cal State Fullerton 15, SJSU 1
- Janessa Lozano batted 2-for-2 with a run scored as she extended her hitting streak to six games. 
- Grace Garvey plated the Spartans' lone run on a RBI double in the second inning. 
- Jessica Giacoma made her first-career appearance in the circle in relief duty.
- Caroline Bowman (0-4) was charged with the loss while Fullerton starter Sophie Frost (4-3) picked up the win. 

Game Two - Cal State Fullerton 7, SJSU 0 
- While Lozano was held hitless to end that streak, she reached first twice on base on balls to extend her team-leading reached bases streak to nine games. 
- Makayla Englestad drew a season-high three walks. 
- Jenessa Ullegue (3-2) pitched her second-straight complete game. 
- Fullerton starter Ellie Zellien (2-0) picked up the win.
