Fairfax, Calif.—San José State women's golfer Antonia Malate moved one spot closer to winning her first collegiate tournament as she finished second at one-over 147 at the Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational Tuesday afternoon. San José State finished fourth in the team standings.
Malate finished second at one-over 217, one shot behind winner Rino Sasaki of Washington. Malate shot an even-par 72 for the third round and was in contention for much of the day. She was one-under par through the first nine holes after making an eagle on the par-five ninth hole (her second eagle of the tournament). She birdied the next hole to go to two-under, but back-to-back bogeys on 16 and 17 put Malate back to even par where she finished the day.
For the second consecutive tournament, Kajsa Arwefjäll tied for third at two-over 218 and carded a one-over 73 in the final round. She was even par through her first nine holes and made a birdie on the 16th hole to go to one-under. A double bogey on the 18th left her at one-over for the day.
Jordyn Parr shot a 78 and finished tied for 32nd at 230. She was one-under for her round through nine holes. Louisa Carlbom also shot a 78 to finish tied for 47th at 235. Jadan Gonzalez finished with a 77 and tied for 63rd at 242.
The Spartans finished fourth at 897 after shooting a 300 in the final round. Washington won the team the team title with a 12-over 876, while Stanford was second at 882.
