Colorado Springs, Colo.—Savannah Sendar did it again as she won her singles match to clinch the win for the San José State women's tennis team over New Mexico, 4-3, Saturday afternoon in Colorado Springs, Colo.
San José State remains undefeated on the season with a 13-0 overall record and 6-0 Mountain West mark.
The Spartans started the day by falling in doubles and New Mexico took an early 1-0 lead. As is common for the Spartans lately, the match would come down to singles play. Irena Muradyan needed three sets to win 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-4, for her 12th singles victory and keep her singles record perfect on the season.
New Mexico won two of the next three singles matches to take a 3-2 lead. Lara Marco Mas lost a hard-fought match, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (3). Alba Pedrero Galindo recorded the second Spartan point with a 5-7, 6-1, 7-6 (2) win. Rozalina Youseva then battled her Lobo opponent but fell in three sets 7-6 (4), 6-7 (3) 6-4.
The match then came down to the #5 and #6 singles. Raquel Villan Pereira won in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, to tie the match at 3-3. Sendar then won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4, for the team's 13th win of the season.
San José State faces Air Force Sunday morning at 10 a.m. MT/9 a.m. PT.
